There are many cases of learners being attacked by people whether aware or not aware of the happening. Innocent children die especially in elementary schools where they are not able to defend themselves. Once at home, the parents are obligated to defend their children from any danger while the teachers are supposed to defend the children once they come into the schools. Therefore, when the students are attacked when they are under the care of the teachers, the teachers come under fire to give answers on the attack that happened to the students. The teachers have to answer these questions, and they can be apprehended to answer questions on the attacks that led to the students in their schools being injured.
The relationship and trust that is there between the teachers and the parents comes to an end as the parents cannot trust their children with such teachers. Some circumstances lead this situation, and the attack might not have been the teacher’s fault or they might not have been able to stop the attack. Their major priority is making sure that the students are protected, but they may lack the necessary tools to accomplish this. They will need more sophisticated items that match the power of the aggressors so that they can be able to fend them off the children. They need tools that will march the enemy and therefore can give 100% protection to the students that are entrusted to teachers each and every day for both learning and protection. Aggressors will attack as they are aware that the teachers are not able to defend the children and that they are also not able to keep them away from attacking the children. They take the advantage and attack the children due to these vulnerabilities.
There are many innocent children that are lost due to attacks by unknown assailants. Some of them use the children as a human shield while others attack them to get back at their parents. Kidnappings have been massive of children being kidnapped as they come out of school more than when they come from home. The reason for the attacks is because teachers have no defense mechanisms as they control a big number of children so that they can get them home safely. The attackers take this chance as they are fully aware that the teacher will be more obligated to protect the rest of the students than going for one student. This advantage might be unnoticeable but again paramount to note especially when the safety of the children is a concern. Children have to be protected by the teachers are always willing to take these risks so that they can ensure that they are safe (Lott 185).
Guns should be given to the teachers, but they can be modified so that they can fit the needs of the teacher. The modification and the training on how they are supposed to use them are paramount. The teachers just need these adjustments on the weapons so that they can stick to the purpose that they were meant for. The teachers will also have an upper hand when it comes to confronting aggressors who are after harming the children that are in their care. This is the only factor that lacks in teachers when they take care of children at the schools. It has made schools be the best spots that attackers can take a shield or settle feuds with the children parents through. They prefer taking the children from these spots, and the lack of readiness of such kind of issues has contributed to the increase of cases that have the nature (Bowman & Richard 412).
The teacher is the only closest adult to the children when at school. They can easily identify people who have bad intentions around them and easily use the firepower they have to stop them from attacking the children. The guns that they have can be modified so that they will be more of defense weapons than weapons that are meant for attacking. The teachers will, therefore, know when they can use the weapons and how they should use them. Security agencies can be involved in the process of making sure that the guns are easily used and that they are safe for use. The guns caliber does not necessary have to match those that are used by police or military as they are only meant for defense ( Baumeister & Frad 162).
Conclusion
Weapons, therefore, need to be allowed for teachers especially in the elementary schools to make use of. The cases on children kidnapped or killed while at school or at the playground with the teachers have been on the rise recently. This is because they are vulnerable and can be attacked without them even defending themselves. The need to, therefore, introduce the weapons to the teachers is very urgent and is much needed if the teachers will have to defend their students effectively. If the teachers are given the ability to protect them then, they will be in a better position to ensure that the children are safe than in the past.
